MedicX Pharmacy, part of the MedicX Group, is pleased to have been selected by NHS Blackpool to provide a brand new community pharmacy located in Whitegate Health Centre, Blackpool. The state-of-the-art pharmacy is due to open its doors to the community on Monday 4 January 2010. The pharmacy is dedicated to enhancing the experience of its patients through innovative and practical design as well as the number and variety of services on offer.

The pharmacy offers three private consultation rooms, a patient information area including a touch screen health unit displaying local health information, as well as a comfortable seating area, with a large LCD TV screen showing a dedicated TV health channel, alongside a wide range of services. These services include minor ailments, needle exchange, emergency hormonal contraception, pregnancy tests, smoking cessation, palliative care stock holding service and medicine use reviews.

Steve Jeffers, Director of MedicX Pharmacy, comments:

"We are very proud to have won the tender for this exciting new community pharmacy and look forward to working closely with NHS Blackpool to develop a number of pharmacy services for the local community via the LPS contract. The provision of innovative services is integral to our business and we are committed to engaging with local health and patient support groups to identify local needs and shape our pharmacy services offer accordingly.

As part of this work, we will be conducting detailed audit and research analysis to prove how specific pharmacy solutions can make a difference to patient health outcomes. We anticipate that within six months of opening, the Whitegate pharmacy is likely to be operating more enhanced services than any other pharmacy in England."
