MedicX Pharmacy Lytham provides FREE blood pressure tests at the St George's Day Festival

Members of the MedicX Pharmacy team, from the state of the art Lytham Primary Care Centre, took its recently launched ‘Healthy Heart Service’ out to the local community at the Family Fun Day on Monday 25 April, the final day of the annual St George’s Day Festival. 

Free blood pressure (BP) tests were available on the MedicX Pharmacy stand with over 50 patients taking part.  From those tested, three quarters recorded normal readings, with the rest recording high BP readings (ranging from mild, moderate, severe and isolated systolic hypertension). The patients with high BP readings did not have a prior diagnosis of hypertension and were provided with advice to have their BP re-checked by their doctor as well as a printed explanation of their specific results from the MedicX Pharmacy team.

“The MedicX Pharmacy Lytham team really enjoyed this event.  It provided a great opportunity for us to enjoy the Easter Bank Holiday sunshine, whilst meeting some of our regular patients alongside other new visitors to Lytham who wanted to hear about our services and take up the offer of a free BP check.”

“The Government is focused on reducing cardiovascular disease and our new ‘Healthy Heart Service’ supports this aim and helps people to stay healthy longer.”   

The MedicX Pharmacy full ‘Healthy Heart Service’ is a private consultation which costs £25 and takes approximately 20 minutes, with no prior appointment required.

MedicX Pharmacy Lytham will celebrate its second birthday on 1 June 2011. As well as delivering a traditional dispensing service and sale of medicines, MedicX Pharmacy Lytham offers a range of enhanced pharmacy services for the local community.

For the convenience of patients and visitors to Lytham Primary Care Centre, the MedicX Pharmacy hours mirror the opening hours of the GP surgeries (Monday-Friday 8:30am - 6:00pm and Saturday 8:30am - 12pm).
