Over 5,000 patients visit Rotherham’s new pharmacy in its first month of business

The new state of the art late night MedicX Pharmacy, located within the entrance of the Rotherham Community Health Centre in Rotherham Town Centre, has welcomed over 5,000 patients through its doors during its first full month of operation. 

For the convenience of patients, the pharmacy hours mirror the opening hours of the Walk-in Centre and the GP out of hours service and so far its busiest times have been the early evening and Sundays.   The pharmacy is open until 10pm every day, 365 days a year and is dedicated to enhancing the patient experience, offering three private consultation rooms, a patient information area including a touch screen health-point displaying local health information and a large LCD TV screen showing Life Channel.

MedicX Pharmacy is also one of a select few pharmacies within the Rotherham area to act as a distribution point for Tamiflu, the influenza medicine which is being used to treat patients with ‘Swine Flu’. 

Steve Jeffers, Director of MedicX Pharmacy, comments:

“It is great to see our new Rotherham pharmacy open and providing an important facility to the community through its extended opening hours.  The pharmacy team aims to dispense all prescriptions within a maximum of 10 minutes or we will deliver them for free to the patient’s home. 

“We have received very positive feedback from both our patients and fellow healthcare professionals working within the Rotherham Community Health Centre.  The Rotherham MedicX Pharmacy team is passionate about pharmacy and patient service levels and is constantly striving to deliver new and improved facilities.  We are gradually expanding our range of services and will shortly be offering more diagnostic services such as cholesterol testing and a full-health check to patients.”
